Interview de Woof
Interview réalisé par mail
Hi WOOF ! Let me introducing you. You are a german band who plays since 1998 a typical mid 90s old school hardcore stuff mixed up with hard hitting moshparts. You have almost 10 years of history. It’s huge for an hardcore band. What is your secret ? :D
Hi Denis! There is not a big secret behind it. I think the most important point is that we have been friends before starting WOOF. Nowadays the band means a lot to everyone of us. I think we would rather quit our jobs or give up anything else than splitting up the band.
You have recently released a new CD called “pride.passion.memories”, could you tell me more about that ? Where can we buy it ? How does it sound like ?
To make it short: It sounds fucking awesome! The best record you’ve heard since Metallica’s “Ride the lightening”. You can check our web-shop on our homepage at www.woofhc.com or order directly at Horror Business Records. In France Come Dancing Records is taking care about the distribution.
Are you going to make an European tour in order to promote this new CD ?
Not only in order to promote the CD, but also to play in general. We’ll also hit france if everything works out! Just check our Myspace-page(www.myspace.com/woofhc) for dates.
You have made a split CD in 2005 with a French band (FTX). Do you know other bands in our country ? Which one ? Do you ever have played here ?
Yes, a couple of times. Two times in Lille, once in Nancy. The FTX guys set up a show in Nevers which was one of the best shows we’ve ever played.
I know 9/11 & ISP, they’ll play a show in our hometown on their upcoming tour. Backsight, Strong as ten, By my fist, to mention a few.
I must confess I don’t really know the german hardcore scene except the horror business family and some bands like with fire, sidetracked, tackleberry or just went black. Could you tell me more about this scene ?
Not too much. I think the scene is mainly based locally. There are some cities with lots of HC kids and even some cities you’ll never see a HC-show. There are some HC message-boards around, which have members all over germany, but I wouldn’t declare the typical chit-chat and gossip as something specifically related to HC.
What do you hope to bring to the hardcore scene with your band?
A good time at home listening our records and even a better time at our shows, moshing it up and singing along.
It’s not our aim to improve the world, bringing the world-peace or whatever.
What will the future of WOOF bring us?
We’ll see, dunno yet. Hopefully another record which doesn’t take us as long as the last one. Some good shows for sure. Keep in touch with us and you’ll see…
You are playing together since almost 10 years. So you must have seen some changes in the hardcore scene. Do you think that the hardcore music is not what it’s used to be ?
It’s not changing too much. Maybe to less. From musically sight things are repeating. I have not heard something really new for some years, what doesn’t mean all this new stuff is bad; it’s simply not new. It’s the same with the lyrics, 80% deal about how to improve your live or the scene in general. There is also nothing wrong with that.
One thing which has changed HC is the internet. I think it is a pity that it has become more important to announce the bands myspace profile than talking directly to the audience. Otherwise it gives you the chance to get in touch with people worldwide. We appreciate any contact regarding the band.
Now, being on Myspace.com and PureVolume.com seems more important to bands than playing some shows. What is your opinion on these websites ?
Like mentioned above. You have no chance to escape from it. We also decided to register on both. Most of the booking stuff is done via myspace nowadays. I don’t like the uniformity of myspace. It’s no replacement for a homepage in my eyes.
What are you listening to right now ?
Entombed – Wolverine blues
Thanks for your answers guys, hope to see you soon in France.
Thanks for giving us the chance to introduce ourselves. Keep up the good work buddy!
